a friend shared with me,

her words of wisdom.

“i think we are here, first to learn,

then to give back, to teach,”

she explained.

a friend of hers had been lost,

seemingly too soon.

but, she takes comfort in the fact that,

her friend, older in soul than age,

had done both.

so, let us search for learning.

and, when learned, hold those lessons,

in the pocket of our hearts,

awaiting the moment to give them back.

then, we will be able,

when our time comes,

to say a proper goodbye.
